Residents of Odugbeho community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State have been thrown into mourning following the killing of the community’s district head, Chief Tony Adejo.
Adejo was reportedly murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Community sources disclosed that the monarch was murdered in cold blood while working on his farm at about 10:00 a.m on Wednesday .
The attackers took Chief Adejo’s mobile phone and other personal items.
Calls made to the late chief’s phone were answered by his killers.
"I spoke with him on Tuesday, and we had an appointment to meet on Wednesday.
"When I couldn’t reach him, I called— only to be told this heartbreaking news,” the community source, Seidu said.
He described the slain traditional ruler as a man of peace and humility, respected by all regardless of status or background.
The spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, CSP Catherine Anene is yet to confirm the reported incident.
