Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has again approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, expressing anger over the satirical apology posted on social media by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Akpabio, not only feels offended by the post, but considers it a violation of an earlier order of the court.
It could be recalled that the court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako had restrained both parties from making public comments about the case, pending the determination of an existing suit.
However, Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi central in the Red chamber, published a sarcastic apology to Akpabio on her official Facebook page.
Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed in the post that she was sorry for the “crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect”.
Akpabio’s legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has now told the court that the post constitutes a breach of the judge’s directive.
The lawyers, therefore, asked the court to compel the suspended senator to delete the post from all her social media platforms.
Akpabio’s team also wants the court to mandate Akpoti-Uduaghan to publish a written apology in at least two national dailies and file an affidavit confirming compliance.
