JAMB releases UTME results, identifies 40,261 underage candidates, blacklists centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

The Board disclosed that the results of 39,834 candidates have been withheld.

It further revealed that 40,261 underage candidates sat for the examination, just as it delisted some centres.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB's Registrar disclosed this on Friday during the official release of the 2025 UTME results at JAMB headquarters, Bwari.

Oloyede stated that the seizure of results was due to suspected examination malpractices.

He also disclosed that about 80 individuals are being probed for exam-related offences, with Anambra State having the highest number of suspects.

He said, “A total of 2,030,862 candidates registered for the 2025 UTME, which was conducted across 882 CBT centres, each of which was generally monitored by 10 invigilators of different categories.

“In all, over 10,000 officials were involved in conducting, monitoring and managing the exercise. Without equivocation, this year’s exercise will be remembered as the most successful in recent times.

“Out of the total number of 2,030,862 candidates registered for the 2025 UTME, 1,957,000 were successfully verified for the examination, 71,705 were absent and a total of 2,157 candidates’ fingerprints were rejected by the machines as invalid.

“This failure was beyond the acceptable normal margin of failure. Subsequent discoveries in this regard indicated that a number of the candidates whose fingers were unrecognised had one question of registration infraction or another to answer.

“Each of these cases would be reviewed and determined on its merit. Of the 41,027 registered underaged candidates, 40,260 sat for the examination whose UTME results are being isolated for further tests to identify the normally few exceptional candidates.

“Consequently, results for 1,911,551 candidates have been released (which makes the available results to be 1.951, 811).”

“It is a great concern that 50 of the underaged candidates were implicated in a cheating syndicate-scandal,” he added.

Due to substandard performance the following centres have been delisted and blacklisted for technical deficiencies:

Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State;

Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State;

Soronara Ventures Nigeria Limited Foundation Road, Umudagu Mbieri, Mbaitoli, Imo State;

HSS Amazing, Holy Saviour School 30/32, Old Ota Road, Adeleye, Aparadija, Isunba, Lafenwa, Itele, Ogun State.
