Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani says President Bola Tinubu’s government has invested in agriculture more than any other administration in Nigeria’s history.
Sani, who spoke during the distribution of presidential palliative relief materials at the Umaru Yarádua Conference Centre on Sunday, also implied that President Tinubu has reduced the poverty rate in the North.
“The poverty rate in Northern Nigeria, especially the North-West, was between 65% and 70%. In the last two years, President Tinubu has made strategic interventions beyond palliatives—deep structural support,” he stated.
Sani highlighted massive support for smallholder farmers, fertilizer aid, and non-partisan monetary backing for states as part of Tinubu’s agricultural reforms.
He credited these efforts with tackling infrastructure deficits, creating jobs, and reducing poverty.
He urged all tiers of government to support the President’s grassroots development vision, stressing that local government autonomy is critical in combating poverty and unemployment.
“All 23 local government chairmen in Kaduna are here today. They are the real drivers of this initiative. Without empowering them, our efforts against poverty will fall short,” he said.
While echoing the governor’s sentiments, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, praised Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and tough economic reforms.
“The President works tirelessly for Nigeria. He’s confronting challenges without blame. Our global ratings have improved because of these bold moves,” Bagudu said.
Representing President Tinubu, his Political Adviser, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, reiterated the President’s commitment to citizens’ welfare and announced the distribution of over 12,000 bags of rice across Kaduna’s 255 wards.
“This initiative reflects the President’s empathy and proactive leadership. We call on community leaders and volunteers to ensure fair and transparent distribution,” Masari said.
