Following public outcry, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has invited an edutech expert, Alex Onyia to be part of the review process for the United Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, results.
It could be recalled that controversy has continued to trail this year’s UTME result, as the Board announced that 1.5 million candidates scored less than 200.
However, most of the candidates have since rejected the result.
Onyia, CEO of Educare, who has been leading the campaign, announced on Tuesday that JAMB has formally invited him.
“I received a formal invitation from JAMB for us to transparently conduct a thorough review of the 2025 JAMB exam. The review date is next tomorrow (Thursday).
“After our review, I will publicly share my findings.
“If you have been troubled, keep calm. I’m hopeful that something positive will come out of it. You burnt candles, had sleepless nights, had high hopes. We will not fail you!” He disclosed.
The campaigner and his team had earlier, through the Freedom of Information, FOI, Act, demanded from JAMB details of the candidates’ scripts and results.
“The destinies of these Nigerian students are my priority. They worked very hard, burnt candles and deserved a transparent outcome.
“We need a public explanation of what happened, public apology to these students and their mark-sheet made publicly available,” he said after submitting the FOI request.
Onyia also confirmed that at least 8,391 students have sent in their complaints regarding the glitches in the JAMB 2025 exam.
“These are lots of evidence to prove that JAMB’s system was inefficient and thereby causing serious harm to these students' mental health.
“The demand is for JAMB to show all the students their mark-sheet to view their results. Also, see what they failed, the correct answer and possibly a seamless way to dispute it.
“The destinies of these students are at stake,” he stated.
