Shadow Govt: 500 lawyers line up for Pat Utomi

By

No less than 500 lawyers have indicated interest to defend Professor Pat Utomi in the case filed against him by the Department of State Services, (DSD).

The DSS sued Utomi over his alleged plan to establish what he calls “a shadow government” in the country.

Utomi muted the plan as a measure to put the government on its toes.

But the DSS filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, praying the court to declare the move an attack on the Constitution.

However, in an update on Friday, the professor of Political Economy said he was receiving support from some Nigerians who are planning to mobilise 500 lawyers to defend him.

Utomi, in a post on X, said:

“It’s energising (that) some want to put together 500 lawyers to defend me against the DSS,” he said.

"It’s energising (that) some want to put together 500 lawyers to defend me against the DSS.

“I am heartened by messages of solidarity from across Nigeria on this shadowy business of chasing shadows of shadow cabinets.

“They remind me of the Nigeria I used to know. I want to thank all."
