Fifteen farmers have been killed, and three others injured following a deadly attack by suspected bandits in Waje community, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
This was confirmed by the Deputy Governor of the State, Senator Umar Tafida.
He visited the community on Saturday on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris to condole with the families of the victims and the people of Waje.
During the visit to the residence of the District Head of Waje, Hon. Bala Danbaba, Senator Tafida expressed deep sympathy over the tragic incident and announced financial support from the state government to the affected families.
He described the gesture as a modest effort to assist the bereaved and those receiving treatment, while reassuring the community that the government is committed to tackling insecurity and making farmlands safe again.
In his response, the District Head appreciated the government’s visit and support, describing it as timely. He highlighted the security challenges facing the area due to its proximity to Niger, Zamfara, and Sokoto states, and called for increased security to prevent future attacks.
Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed that 15 people lost their lives in the attack while three others sustained injuries.
