DSS arrests wanted kidnap kingpin going for Hajj

By

A suspected kidnap kingpin identified as Sani Galadi has been arrested at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport, Sokoto.

He was nabbed by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Monday, in what could be described as one of the major feats against banditry in the country.

Galadi was arrested at about 11:15am at the airport during a screening exercise for pilgrims at the Hajj terminal.

A highly-placed source within security agencies told Daily Trust that the intelligence officers were on a covert operation to rid the country of heinous crimes and criminalities.

“Yes, one Galadi was arrested today at the terminal when undergoing final screening before departure for Saudi Arabi,” the source said.

When asked how such a person obtained necessary documents like passport and other documents at different agencies, the official said “you can find out that from those agencies.

“What I know is that Galadi has been taken into custody and he’s providing necessary answers to questions. He will have his day in Court when the investigation is completed”.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, another kidnap kingpin was also arrested at the hajj camp in Abuja while en route to Saudi Arabia.

He was earlier declared wanted following his alleged involvement in some kidnappings within Kogi and Abuja.

The two major arrests are seen as major boosts as security agencies battle to curtail kidnapping activities and banditry across the country.
