2025 UTME: No conspiracy against Igbos - JAMB Registrar

By

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has declared that the technical glitch which affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, was not in any way premeditated against the South-East.

This comes amid speculations that the glitch as admitted by JAMB was deliberately intended to deny South-East students educational opportunities.

Those advancing the argument had wondered why the glitch only affected the entire five South-East states and Lagos.

However, Oloyede dismissed the speculations at a meeting with the management of the board ahead of the release of results of the rescheduled UTME examination on Wednesday.

He stated further that the death of a candidate as a result of the examination was regrettable, noting that the meeting observes a minute silence in honour of the student.

According to him, there was no deliberate attempt to undermine students from the South-East as every candidate is Nigerian and has equal opportunities.
