Federation Cup: Rangers lose to Kwara United in semi finals

By

Rangers International FC of Enugu suffered a shock defeat in the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup.

It was the Flying Antelopes' only hope of securing a continental ticket.

However, Kwara United stunned the five-time Champions 1-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Wasiu Alalade scored the winning goal three minutes after the break.

Goalkeeper, Suraj Ayeleso was the standout performer for Kwara United, making a number of crucial saves to deny the Flying Antelopes.

Kwara United and Abakaliki FC will now clash in the finals.

The Giant-killers Abakaliki FC booked a spot in the final after a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Ikorodu City.

The fiercely contested semi-final ended 0-0 in regulation time.

Kwara United and Abakaliki FC will both be aiming to win the President Federation Cup for the first time when they meet in the final later this month.
