The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has reacted to the revelation by the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum about those providing information to terrorists.
Nigerians were greeted with shock earlier in the week when Zulum revealed that some members of the Armed Forces, as well as politicians act as informants and collaborators to Boko Haram and its splinter group, ISWAP.
The governor’s revelation came amid renewed insurgents’ attacks in his state, Borno.
Reacting, Obi, who hailed Governor Zulum for speaking the truth, charged the federal government to take swift action.
He wrote on his X handle, “The recent outcry by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state that Boko Haram informants and terrorists exist among our politicians and within our armed forces is a damning indictment of the state of our nation.
“It is not just shocking; it is devastating. And if true, it confirms what many Nigerians have long feared: that our country is bleeding not only from external attacks but from betrayal at the highest levels,” he said.
“Words are not enough; silence and inaction only serve to embolden the enemies within. The Nigerian people demand answers and action.”
