Confusion as PDP postpones NEC meeting indefinitely

By

For the umpteenth time, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed the much anticipated National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting.

NATIONAL POST reports that this comes same day FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike vowed to fight until he gets justice.

This is not the first time the party is postponing what is generally regarded as a make or mar NEC meeting.

At each point, a reason is usually adduced for the postponement.

The party had earlier scheduled the NEC to hold on May 27, 2025 at its National Secretariat in Abuja.

But two days away, it has been called off. No news date was given.

PDP's National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, said a new date will be scheduled.

He made the announcement in a notice tagged: "Postponement of the 99th NEC meeting."

"The above subject refers. This is to formally inform leaders and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party that the proposed NEC meeting earlier announced to take place

on May 27, 2025 has been postponed.

"The postponement is to allow the Sen. Bukola Saraki's Reconciliation Committee complete its assignment of resolving some internal conflicts necessary to have a peaceful NEC Meeting.

"Accordingly, a new date will be formally announced in accordance with the PDP constitution 2017 as amended and the Electoral Act, 2022.

"Therefore, any notice of NEC meeting or publication signed by the Deputy National Secretary in the guise of Acting National Secretary is illegal, unauthorized and should be disregarded.

"All inconveniences resulting from this change of date are regretted. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards," the notice read.
