Catholic priest shot in Benue by suspected herdsmen

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr. Solomom Atongo has been shot by suspected herdsmen.

He is the priest in charge of St Johns Quasi Parish, Jimba.

The incident occurred along the volatile Makudi-Naka road in Benue State on Saturday evening.

The kidnappers after shooting the priest and thinking he was dead, whisked away the two persons with him to an unknown destination.

This was confirmed by Rev. Joseph Beba, who is the Chairman, Diocesan Priests.

According to him, Rev. Atongo was shot on his way from Naka, headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area.

Rev Atongo is said to be in critical condition and receiving treatment in a hospital.
