Tinubu’s two years in office ineffective, nothing to celebrate - Ohanaeze

By

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has passed a poor-performance verdict on President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Igbo group knocked the Tinubu presidency for pervasive hunger and ineffective economic policies which it said had proven fruitless over the past two years.

It urged the President to to put an end to the "Yorubanization agenda which compromises the integrity of our national unity but instead embrace a paradigm ground in competence and merit.”

This was contained in a joint press statement issued on Thursday by the factional Deputy President-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Thompson Ohia, in assessment of President Tinubu’s two years in office.

Ohanaeze stated that there was nothing to celebrate, advising that “it is high time for a total overhauling of his cabinet”.

According to the statement, “Nigerians are enduring untold hardships as a direct consequence of the ongoing experimental leadership failures propagated by a cadre of incompetent ministers and political appointees.

“This abysmal performances have marred the credibility of President Tinubu's government, leaving the ordinary citizen grappling with the harsh ramifications of ineffective governance.

"The challenges confronting our nation, from soaring inflation to food insecurity, stand as stark reminders of the disconnect between the leadership and the populace.

“This is an urgent call to action and a poignant opportunity for President Tinubu to reconnect with the masses.

"We urge the President to take decisive action in dismissing not only ineffective ministers but to introduce proven leaders like David Umahi and Nyesom Wike to restore public confidence in governance.

"The uncomfortable truth must be conveyed unequivocally: President Tinubu’s two-year scorecard is heavily tainted by the incompetence and corruption of his appointed officials.

"The Nigerian people expect transformative leadership, and if this expectation continues to be unmet, the political landscape may shift dramatically by 2027.

“Those responsible for this administration’s failures are likely to position themselves within opposition coalitions, abandoning the President at the crucial moment.

"Moreover, we call on President Tinubu to demonstrate exemplary leadership by addressing the pervasive hunger and ineffective economic policies that have proven fruitless over the past two years.

"Courage must be wielded in advocating for the creation of additional states, particularly two states in the Southeast, to foster equitable representation for the region.

“Furthermore, it is paramount that the Federal Government ensures that both ethnicity and religion are given due consideration in the forthcoming 2025 National Census.

"This will enable a restructuring of Nigeria that recognizes our diverse identity and propels a new era of electoral reforms to enhance our democratic process.

“We must convey an uncompromising, blunt truth: President Tinubu risks being abandoned by his Northern allies, including governors, if present trends continue as we approach the 2027 elections.”

NATIONAL POST reports that the Peoples Democratic Partty, PDP, also rated President Tinubu low, just as it claimed that over 600,000 Nigerians had been murdered in the past two years.
