Benue killings: Stop herdsmen same way you stopped Peter Obi - Fr Kelvin blasts Alia

By

A Catholic Missionary priest working in Gambia, Rev Fr Kelvin Ugwu, has attacked Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State over his inability to stop the killings in the State.

Ugwu, who recalled how the governor stopped Mr Peter Obi from visiting the state, said he should intercept the killer herdsmen same way.

Our correspondent reports that Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, had planned to visit IDPs in Benue State but the governor barred him from coming.

In a post on his social media page, Ugwu said it is not a great thing that Alia always comes to social media to announce the number of people that have been butchered by the suspected herdsmen.

He wrote, "Dear governor, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, one of the primary reasons that made people vote you is because you are a priest, (though suspended). They believe you will be different. It is for them I speak. It is not a great thing that you come to Facebook every Eke market day to announce to us the number of people that have been butchered.

"Announce rather those you have apprehended. Be proactive and not reactive. In the same way you intercepted Obi's entrance to Benue, you can also do the same to these people killing your people. That is if you want to."

NATIONAL POST reports that over 50 persons have been killed in different Benue communities within the last 48 hours.
