Anambra guber: We didn’t submit any candidate’s name - Party fires INEC

By

National Rescue Mission, NRM, has faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the inclusion of the party in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election.

INEC had on Wednesday released a final list of the candidates for the November 8 governorship election.

There are 16 political parties on the list.

INEC recognised 40-year-old Ndidi Christy Olieh as the NRM's flagbearer for the election and Ogbe Ekene Reginald as her deputy.

However, NRM has come out to say the party has no candidate for the election, wondering how INEC included it on the list.

National Chairman of the party, Chief Edozie Njoku, said the name published by INEC was obtained through illegality and cannot stand.

Edozie told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday that his political party would not allow the illegality to stand, adding that the party leadership does not know nor does it have anything to do with the candidates listed by the electoral umpire as its flag bearers.

"NRM has no candidate for the Anambra state governorship election.

"There's no candidate at all. But INEC now went behind and got the Secretary to bring a candidate," he said, explaining that all efforts made for the candidates to come from the right channel were blocked by the Mahmood Yakubu-led INEC.

"So how can you tell me that NRM has a candidate?” He queried.
