Assailants suspected to be phone thieves have stabbed a senior Naval officer to death in the Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred on Sunday.
The hoodlums were said to have attacked the victim, identified as Commodore M. Buba, at Kawo bus stop as they attempted to rob him of his mobile phone and other valuables under the Kawo flyover in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the police and military authorities in Kaduna State are yet to confirm the incident, however an eyewitness told newsmen that the victim, who was on course at the Armed Forces and Command Staff College, Jaji, had a flat tire while returning from the military institution when he was attacked by the suspected phone snatchers.
He was reportedly rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
His body was deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital.
It was learnt that a mob later arrived the scene of the attack, overpowered one of the assailants and lynched him.
