In a dramatic twist, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Segun Sowunmi, paid a surprise visit to President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday.
Sowunmi is one of the backbones of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate of the PDP.
He has also been offering suggestions on the way out of the crisi rocking the People Democratic Party, PDP.
However, justifying his visit to Tinubu, Sowunmi said he is not tied to anybody, stressing that he is not against President Bola Tinubu.
“I am at liberty as an adult to take decisions. I am not tied to anybody. I am not anti-Tinubu. I own my mouth, I own my words, and I own my arguments.
"Do you know the difference between Bola and them? He doesn’t have one approach to dealing with everybody. By miles, he (Tinubu) is smarter than them. He is smarter than Peter Obi, he is smarter than them,” he said.
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Tonight, he claimed that he had a deep relationship with the president, saying he has known him since 1994.
“First of all, his brain is very alert. He’s fit, never mind that he is frail.
"The kind of questions I asked him – you know when you’re asking someone questions and the person is answering without looking at a book – and he is answering it the way he sees it and you’re agreeing,” he said.
This comes after Tinubu also took another of Atiku’s ally, Daniel Bwala.
He has since been appointed Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication.
