Unspecified number of people are feared dead in a Tuesday night attack by suspected herdsmen in Agatu and Apa Local Government Areas of Benue State.
This is not the first time rampaging herdsmen are launching attacks on Agatu.
One of the victims is Sunday Dutse, a native of Odejo and younger brother to a former chairman of the local government.
He was killed along the Odugbeho-Ogbaulu road.
According to the source, Dutse was earlier displaced from his community in an earlier herdsmen attack and had been taking refuge in Ogwule-Kaduna, also in Agatu LGA.
A separate attack occurred in EdikwG'Icho, a community in Apa LGA, where three youths were ambushed and killed.
Two of the victims were reportedly from EdikwG'Icho, while the third hailed from Ugbokpo.
NATIONAL POST reports that recently, Benue monarchs issued an ultimatum to herdsmen to vacate the communities, but in a viral video, one of them vowed they would not honour the ultimatum.
