Tinubu hints on Wike's defection to APC

By

President Bola Tinubu has hinted on the defection of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This comes a few days after Wike hosted a stakeholders' meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

At the meeting, the stakeholders, including three other former governors, who are members of Wike's defunct G5, urged the PDP to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

But speaking on Wednesday, Tinubu said the APC is open to receiving Wike whenever he decides to switch into the ruling party.

He spoke while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road) and some other roads in Katampe District.

The president said with Wike, APC "will continue to be in a joyous mood" while the party’s rivals would continue to "writhe in pain."

NATIONAL POST reports that Wike has since endorsed Tinubu for a second term in office.
