A 40-year-old man, identified as Kingsley Ugochukwu and his wife have been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command.

The couple were nabbed for allegedly being in possession of different guns.

According to the spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe, they were arrested during a raid at a food canteen in Asaba.

He said the operatives recovered one locally fabricated Beretta pistol from the man and another single-barrel gun from his wife.

He said the raid was carried out on a food canteen, a popular hideout for cultists, adding that "the suspect, on sighting the police, quickly disposed of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol which was later recovered by the operatives.

"During the preliminary investigation, the suspect made a suspicious call to his wife which prompted the operatives to expand the investigation.”

"It was later revealed that the suspect ordered his wife to check his bedroom and dispose of another long-range single barrel gun in an uncompleted building.

"The suspect’s wife was arrested and her confession led to the recovery of the other single-barrel gun," he further stated.
