Ex-Gov Ugwuanyi missing as Tinubu hosts Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu

By

Former Enugu State Governor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was conspicuously absent as President Bola Tinubu met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and other members of the defunct G5 governors at the presidential villa on Saturday.

At the meeting were former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, and former governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Also in attendance was a former governor of Etiki State, Ayodele Fayose.

They are all chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

No details were provided as reason for the meeting.

This is the first time Tinubu will be meeting with the group without Ugwuanyi in attendance.

However, members of the G5, who are all allies of Wike, have been maintaining a close relationship with the Tinubu government.

They are believed to have worked against the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election.

However, while Wike, the leader of the group was rewarded with the juicy FCT ministerial position, the rest are yet to get any appointment despite endless rumours.

Wike has since fallen out with one of the members of the group, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

It has not been ascertained whether Ugwuanyi’s absence is as a result of the widening crack in the PDP.

But this is the first time Ugwuanyi was not part of such a meeting with Tinubu since after the 2023 election.
