President Bola Tinubu has stated that political enemies of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State were delighted with the current happenings in the state.
He said the political enemies do not want the governor to succeed.
Tinubu, who spoke on Wednesday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, during a meeting with key stakeholders in the state, was reacting to the paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation, Tor Tiv V, His Royal Majesty James Ayatse, who earlier alleged that the security crisis in the state had been politicized.
Responding, Tinubu asserted that human life was more important than cows.
"The value of human life is greater than that of a cow. And it is only when you open the door for conflict that the political enemy will come in.
"Political enemies don't want you to succeed. Governor, are you just realizing that? No matter what I do, they will still abuse me.
"I read newspapers and listen to television whenever I have time. I usually see those who abuse me and the kind of abuse. I learnt lessons from the political ones too," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Tor Tiv had while addressing the stakeholders during the meeting, declared that some politicians in the state were delighted at the ugly incidents.
He claimed it was the desire of those politicians for the security crisis to continue deteriorating to pave the way for declaration of a state of emergency in Benue.
He also insisted that the state was dealing with a “calculated, well-planned and full-scale genocidal invasion and land grabbing campaign by herder terrorists and bandits”.
NATIONAL POST reports that Benue has been in the news after suspected Fulani herdsmen killed over 200 persons in a single attack in Yelwata community of the state.
Most of the victims were burnt alive by the assailants, drawing outrage from across the country.
