Benue crisis: Tinubu directs Gov Alia to provide land for ranching

By

President Bola Tinubu has outlined part of the measure to end the crisis in Benue State.

He gave the directive during his visit to the state on Wednesday.

The President directed Governor Hyacienth Alia to make available land that would be used for cattle ranching.

He also directed the immediate formation of a committee of elders which includes all former governors, including the incumbent Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule.

The President also gave a fresh directive to intelligence chiefs to “retune information channels for tangible intelligence to prevent a recurrence”

He also queried the security chiefs, asking them why there has been no arrest yet.

He charged all citizens in Benue to find a common ground and work together for lasting peace.

The committee is expected to play a critical advisory and mediatory role in the peace process.

President Tinubu’s visit is considered a key process towards restoring peace in Benue State.

Tinubu was also not happy that no arrest had been made nearly one week after the gruesome murder of natives, as well as some security operatives.
