The Nigerian Government, on Thursday, closed its case against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
It called a total of five witnesses to support its terrorism allegation against the IPOB leader.
Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN led the prosecution team of the Federal Government.
He announced the closure of the case after the 5th prosecution witness (PW-5), identified as EEE for security reasons, testified before the court.
He was cross examined by one of Kanu's lawyers, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN.
Thereafter, the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja, slated July 18 for Kanu to open his defense.
Lead defense counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, informed the court that they would be opting for a no-case submission, which would be filed in due course.
Kalu has been undergoing trial after he was arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria.
He was earlier standing trial before Justice Binta Nyako but the judge recused herself after Kanu alleged bias.
The matter has since progressed before Justice Omotosho.
