Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have attacked the Wannune community in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
It is the hometown of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
NATIONAL POST reports that the incident occurred Friday night, just barely two days after President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Benue State.
Sourced said many persons are feared dead, and others injured.
“Everyone is running into the bushes for safety. Please let Nigerians pray for us. The herdsmen are ravaging the environment now,” a youth corps member said in a desperate SOS, calling on security agencies for urgent intervention.
The fresh tension comes days after Yelewata incident which claimed scores of livers.
