2027: Kenneth Okonkwo rules Peter Obi out, backs Atiku

By

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Mr Keneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has downplayed the possibility of Obi winning the presidential election in Nigeria.

According to Okonkwo, politicians in Obi’s class cannot win the presidential election in current Nigerian political arrangement.

He said former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is more positioned to defeat President Bola Tinubu.

Okonkwo made the assertion on Channels Television, noting that even if people in Obi’s class wins, the victory would be stolen from them.

According to him, "Any officer of the middle or lower cadre never succeeded in Nigeria and there is a reason for that, and that is why in Nigeria, we need a man of conscience who is experienced, who might even be from the old cadre that has made up his mind that he wants a new Nigeria.

"If you are expecting a younger person to come in, in the midst of these sharks, they will swallow him up.

“And I'm telling you, Obama can come to Nigeria and will not win the election. Not because people will not vote for him, but they will steal it from him.

"So what we have now in Nigeria is that we have a system that needs to be fought, that needs to be taken out."

He went further to say that the newly formed coalition, All Democratic Alliance, ADA, would throw its presidential ticket open.

According to the veteran actor, anyone from any region will be free to pick the ticket.

“I have said it clearly, nobody is going to stop anybody from contesting for the presidential ticket in the coalition, nobody.

"Politicians have shown that it is very difficult to trust them even when the person promises one term. So, if somebody has taken a term from the South and it is in the middle of the game and the person is not performing like Tinubu, you are going to get into a problem.

“If you get another Southerner, he is going to stay there for eight years. The North will say no, this is injustice. Nobody will allow Tinubu to continue because he is not performing.

“So, the best is to throw it open. When the best comes in, every other person will support him and the person will promise to do four years.”

NATIONAL POST recalls that days back, Okonkwo accused Obi of betraying him by going behind to support embattled national chairman of LP, Julius Abure.
