Edo South Senatorial District, Senator Neda Imasuen dumped the Labour Party.
The lawmaker, on Wednesday, announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Like his counterparts, he cited internal crises in the opposition party and the need for political relevance for his constituents.
The defection was announced during the Senate plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who read a letter from the Senator conveying his decision.
In the letter, Imasuen said his defection followed “extensive consultations” with his constituents and key political actors in Edo South.
“I write to respectfully notify the distinguished Senate through the office of the Senate President of my resignation from the Labour Party (LP) and my decision to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the letter stated.
According to him, the move was aimed at positioning his senatorial district for greater visibility and opportunities under the ruling party.
There have been a lot of defections by members of the National Assembly from both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and LP to the APC.
The crisis rocking the two opposition parties- PDP and LP, has not helped matters, with their future uncertain amid the endless leadership crisis.
