Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc, EEDC, and its subsidiary (responsible for electricity distribution within Enugu State), Mainpower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), has congratulated the new leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, led by Comrade Obinna Ogbuka.
This came as Mr Emeka Ezeh, Group Head, Corporate Communications, paid a courtesy visit to Ogbuka at the Enugu Press Centre.
Ezeh, who also participated in a mass to usher in the new executive, said it was obvious that Ogbuka’s emergence reflects the trust and confidence reposed in him by the Enugu journalists, which speaks volumes about his dedication to the values of truth, professionalism, and integrity in journalism.

He expressed confidence that the new NUJ leadership "will usher in a new era of inclusiveness, progress, and advocacy for press freedom and ethical media practice in Enugu State.
“Our organization has enjoyed a good and cordial relationship with the NUJ over the years, and we look forward to sustaining this through meaningful collaboration with your administration, especially in the area of educating the public on the developments in the power sector and the need for their support in ensuring it thrives.
“As you begin to steer the affairs of NUJ, Enugu State, we wish you and your executive committee a successful and impactful tenure while assuring you of our organisation's support,” he stated.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ogbuka pledged that the existing partnership between the EEDC and journalists in the state would be sustained.
He said his leadership was in a hurry to better the lots of journalists in the state through improved welfare, adding that corporate organisations like the EEDC was very vital towards the realization of that objective.
"We appreciate your visit, which coincides with the day we are having a mass to usher in our leadership. It speaks volumes.
"Our assurance is that the existing partnership between the union and the EEDC will be sustained.
"For us, our cardinal goal is to better the welfare of our members and this why we will closely work with the EEDC and other corporate organisations towards the realisation of this noble objective," Ogbuka stated.
