By

Gunmen, who hijacked a fully-loaded bus belonging to Benue Links have demanded a ransom of N350 million for the release of the passengers.

NATIONAL POST recalls that the commercial bus was hijacked in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, along the Enugu-Otukpo Expressway.

All the occupants were marched into the bush by the gunmen.

A relative of one of the kidnapped victims, Terna Agbecha, confirmed the development, stating that his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, is among those held captive.

“They called and asked for N350 million. Our elder sister has paid N500,000, but they refused to set her free,” he said.

He lamented that the passengers would be unable to raise such a huge amount.

“We are begging the government to intervene and ensure the rescue of our family members,” he cried out.
