Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the alleged defiling of a 12-year-old girl by a monarch in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, who confirmed the incident, said the case had been transferred to the state Command.
Ayanlade also revealed that an investigation was already ongoing over the incident.
NATIONAL POST learnt that a traditional ruler (Baale) of the Laagba community in the Ondo East Local Council Area of Ondo State was named as the alleged culprit.
He has already been arrested by operatives of the State Police Command for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.
The traditional ruler was accused of luring the girl into his house in the community, where he harboured and harassed her sexually for two weeks.
According to a source at the Ondo Area Command, the parents of the girl were worried about her whereabouts which promoted them to raise an alarm.
While recounting her ordeal, the girl, who is currently recuperating in an undisclosed health facility in Ondo town, narrated that a commercial motorcyclist lured her to the house of the monarch.
