Some of the conditions that led to the reconciliation between suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have been revealed.
It could be recalled that the duo met again yesterday with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa, after which they announced that all the differences had been resolved.
Although they kept mute on the conditions for the reconciliation, it has now been reported that Fubara accepted not to seek re-election after his current tenure in 2027.
According to the Cable, President Tinubu will now reinstate Fubara after the agreement with Wike.
The medium also reported that Wike would be granted the power to nominate all local government chairpersons in the state’s 23 LGAs.
Also, Fubara agreed to pay all outstanding allowances and entitlements owed to the 27 lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister.
On their part, the lawmakers will not initiate any impeachment proceedings against the governor when reinstated by Tinubu.
Part of the reason for the squabble between Fubara and Wike has been the control of political power and resources in the state.
However, with the development, Wike will now regain total control and dominance of the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
