Billionaire businessman, Aminu Dantata is dead

A renowned Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata is dead.

The business icon and international figure was confirmed dead in the early hours of Saturday.

He was aged 94.

The elder statesman died after a prolonged illness.

The news of his demise was announced by his Private Personal Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid.

A tense statement he issued reads: "It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

"May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings. The Janazah details will be shared later insha Allah.”

Born on May 19, 1931, Dantata was known for his business ventures in real estate, petroleum, and finance.

He was also involved in philanthropic activities, particularly in the areas of education and youth development.

Dantata once served in the Kano State Government and was a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee responsible for preparing Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution.
