Former Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has pledged to do only a single tenure in office if elected president in 2027.
Obi made the commitment on Sunday during an X space, where a lot of questions were posed to him.
He said he believed in rotation of power between the North and the South, adding that as governor of Anambra State, he implemented power rotation.
According to him, he would restore stability in governance and then hand over power.
“I implemented it in Anambra as a governor. If there is any form of agreement that will restrict me to 4 years in office, I will comply with the agreement and be ready to leave office by 28th May, 2031,” he vowed.
While committing to the details of coalition movement, Obi said leaders of Nigeria should sit down in Nigeria and fix Nigeria.
“Nigeria is currently at war. We need to do something about it.
“We will do things differently in 2027. We will follow a nonviolent approach and insist that the right thing will be done before the result announcement in Abuja.
“Three things to follow up with in the first 100 days...prioritize security, education and poverty eradication; cutting cost and shunning corruption. My family will not be involved in corruption. Funds to be channeled into key critical sectors,” he further stated.
Obi also pledged to ensure that a viral opposition thrived under his watch, just as he revealed that the coalition would soon “adopt a party and we are hopeful that other parties will work with us”.
“Everybody is free to pick up any party of choice and engage in politics until we are ready with the choice political party.
“There will be no defection of elected officials to other parties when I am in charge.
“That I laugh with or be friendly with you does not mean that I will not deal with you if you break the law.
“I have always attended all meetings with the coalition. My belief is that we will come to a stage where we will make necessary sacrifices to salvage the nation.
“Our votes in 2027 will count and we will ensure it counts.
“The more you secure the country, the more the farmers will go to their farms. We will secure the country,” he declared.
