Protesting residents of Lafiagi in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State have set ablaze the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, office.

NATIONAL POST learnt that the protesters, mostly youths, were expressing anger over endless terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and killings in the area.

They alleged that authorities were not just silent over the situation, but were unable to curtail it.

The Emir of Lafiagi’s palace in the area was also not spared, as the windows and parts of the structure were touched by the rampaging youths.

The enraged youths, mostly locals fed up with the government’s silence and inaction, stormed the streets on Monday morning, demanding an end to the bloodshed and abductions.

A resident burst out saying, “ we have kept silent for so long; our people are being killed and kidnapped, but nobody is doing anything about it.

“The rate of criminality here is becoming so alarming and the authorities are not doing anything to checkmate it.”

As of the time of filing this report, neither the state government nor the police has issued any statement on the development.
