Tinubu still mum on Ganduje resignation, Kwankwaso - APC

By

The All Progressives Congress, APC, says President Bola Tinubu is yet to break his silence on the sudden resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

There have been several speculations ever since Ganduje resigned, with many linking it to the possible defection of Kano’s political leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso to the ruling party.

Although Ganduje said he resigned owing to health reasons, many people have not bought into that.

It is believed that he was pressured to step aside to pave the way for Kwankwaso’s entrance.

There are claims that Kwankwaso may displace vice president Kashim Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate in 2027.

However,  while appearing on Channels Television on Sunday, Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC  spokesman said such claims were speculative.

He said, “The President is at liberty to speak at any moment on any issue. He has not spoken, so people will speculate. But we cannot act based on speculation.”

On Kwankwaso moving into the party, he had this to say:

“The party I speak for has said nothing about Kwankwaso possibly joining.

"We have not made that determination and are not able to make it at the moment.”

Meanwhile, while a faction of Kwankwaso’s New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, say they would be glad if he exits the party, another group said they would join him into the APC.
