ADC coalition members corrupt, united by hatred for Tinubu - Presidency

By

The Nigerian Government has reacted to Wednesday's adoption of African Democratic Congress, ADC, as the official platform of the opposition coalition.

NATIONAL POST recalls that all the prominent opposition politicians in Nigeria, as well as some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, gathered in Abuja, during which the ADC was unveiled as the platform for the coalition movement.

Reacting, Mr Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, warned Nigerians against paying attention to the newly formed coalition.

He claimed that the likes of Abubakar Malami, Rotimi Amaechi, Hadi Sirika and Rauf Aregbesola had left the ruling party a long time ago.

Onanuga said the coalition, which according to him, were united only by their hatred for Tinubu, cannot be good for the country, adding that they were desperados aiming to set the country back by decades.

He said the APC will not mourn the exit of such members like Rotimi Amaechi, who according to him left in 2022 after losing the party's presidential primary to Tinubu.

The presidential spokesman said that Malami has never been on the side of Tinubu and has not hidden his estrangement from the ruling party, especially after he lost his governorship bid in Kebbi state.

Onanuga, in the statement, said that Sirika is facing "trial for contract splitting and other allegations."

Onanuga said that Aregbesola has since been expelled from the APC over alleged anti-party activities and lack political relevance.

He added that Kashim Imam and former national Chairman of the APC, John Odigie Oyegun were nothing but disgruntled politicians who had abandoned the ruling party.

"My advice to Nigerians: Keep your eyes wide open. A political party with no clear agenda or ideology, whose members are united only by their hatred for President Tinubu, cannot be good for our country. It will only set us back by decades,” he cautioned.

He added that, "They want power at all costs because they cannot endure another four years in the political wilderness or be banished to political winter and irrelevance.

"What is certain is that the group will soon unravel due to their irreconcilable personal ambitions."
