VIDEO: Atiku hints on contesting presidency, vows to punish all corrupt people

By

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has hinted on taking another shot at the presidency.

Atiku has tried multiple times to be Nigeria President, including the 2023 election during which he came behind was the runner up to President Bola Tinubu.

Currently, he is leading a group of opposition politicians who have adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as their platform.

There have been calls that the ADC should zone the position to the Southern part of the country.

However, Atiku, who received a delegation of Gombe stakeholders led by former Minister, Senator Idris Abdullahi, hinted that he would run for the presidency again.

He decried the level of corruption in the country and vowed to punish all those stealing public funds.

In a video trending on X, Atiku could be heard saying in a local language: "I swear to God, if elected, whoever steals or engages in any corruption-related activities, we will declare war against them and they must be punished”

The former Vice President, also in a post on his X handle, wrote: Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance.

“I stressed that enough is enough, and that Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance.

“The coalition of opposition leaders under the umbrella of the ADC would work assiduously to usher in a positive change that will transform the lives of our people.

“The quality of the interim leadership shows that we are ready to bring integrity to the process and give Nigerians the responsible leadership they deserve.

“I am further inspired by the Gombe stakeholders' pledge of total support and loyalty to the decision of the coalition by joining the ADC.”

NATIONAL POST recalls that while former Senate President, David Mark has taken over as the Interim National Chairman of the ADC, a former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is the Interim National Secretary.
