Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the entire structure of the Labour Party (LP) structure in Ogbadibo Local Government Area has been officially dissolved and integrated into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This comes amid mass defection of both the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members and LP members to the ADC ever since the party was announced as the official platform of the opposition coalition.
Most members of the PDP in the state, especially those close to former governor Samuel Ortom, as well as ex-Senate President David Mark, have all crossed over to the ADC.
LP members in Ogbadibo have now moved en-masse, declaring that the structure now belonged to the ADC.
This major political shift was announced during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
A communique issued after the meeting stated that the mass defection was a “bold and strategic decision” motivated by a shared determination to salvage Nigeria from the persistent hardship and failed governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal administration.
“The decision to collapse the Labour Party structure into the ADC in Ogbadibo LGA is a result of deep reflection and collective willpower. We believe the ADC offers a more people-oriented, transparent, and progressive political alternative.”
The meeting, which had in attendance former LP ward executives, youth leaders, women coordinators, and community mobilizers from across the local government, ended with a declaration of total loyalty to the African Democratic Congress moving forward.
The development is considered a major boost for the ADC in the state, especially as Senator Mark, from the state, is the Interim National Chairman of the party.
