The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has approved the commencement of domestic flight operations by Enugu Air.
This is coming barely 24 few hours after the Enugu State Government unveiled its new air fleet.
Minister of Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo was in Enugu on Monday, during which he unveiled the Enugu Air, with applauds on Governor Peter Mbah of the State.
NCAA hinged its approval on the Minister’s 5-Point Agenda, which is aimed at promoting the growth of indigenous airlines.
A statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, noted that the mantra is to enhance ease of doing business and deepen sectoral reforms.
Enugu Air has designated XEJET as its operational partner pending the conclusion of its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) process.
"Pursuant to this partnership, XEJET has completed a full variation process to integrate the EMB 170 aircraft into its Operations Specifications (OpsSpecs), in accordance with NCAA's five-phase certification procedure. As such, XEJET is duly authorised to operate scheduled commercial flights on behalf of Enugu Air under current NCAA guidelines."
According to Achimugu, ticket sales for flights are facilitated via the XEJET platform, accessible through a redirect on the Enugu Air official website.
He said the NCAA remains committed to enabling a supportive regulatory environment for indigenous carriers, ensuring fair competition, and upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and consumer protection in Nigeria's air transport industry.
NATIONAL POST reports that Enugu Air took off with three airlines on its fleet.
It will be operating commercial flights from Enugu to Abuja and Lagos, with plan to expand its routes in the future.
