Social media commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has claimed the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu ordered the killing of over 50 soldiers, 24 policemen and many civilians in the Southeast.
Omokri spoke on Wednesday during an interview on Channels TV.
During the same interview he did not spare Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023.
He said he specifically flew into Nigeria to counter what he termed lies being peddled by Obi against Tinubu government.
According to him, Obi was also wrong to say that Nnamdi Kanu’s trial does not make sense.
Omokri, prior to Tinubu’s victory in 2023, had vowed that nothing would ever make him work for the Tinubu government, but current happenings indicate that he has made a volte-face.
In the live interview on Channels, Omokri claimed that he has video evidence of the IPOB leader directing his supporters to carry out the heinous crime.
He also alleged that in the video, Kanu ordered that Lagos State should be burnt down.
Countering Peter Obi's assertion, Omokri justified the trial of Kanu, questioning why the former presidential candidate allegedly failed to condemn the activities of IPOB and unknown gunmen in the Southeast.
He said, "Peter Obi said the trial of Nnamdi Kanu does not make sense, listen, I have a video which we cannot play here because of BBC, you heard him telling his supporters to kill soldiers, burn down Lagos.
"After that video, do you know how many soldiers died in the Southeast? Over 50 died, as a matter of fact, there was an army couple that were killed and beheaded in Imo.
"160 police stations were shut down in the Southeast because IPOB, unknown gunmen and ESN attacked them and killed 24 policemen.
"How can you say the trial of a person who killed these people does not make sense?”
