Reports have emerged that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was held for nearly one hour at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday.
According to sources, she was blocked by immigration officials while trying to board a flight to the UK.
The senator was said to be traveling with her husband to attend the graduation ceremony of her stepson in the UK when the incident happened.
According to report, Natasha was stopped and informed she could not travel because her name had been placed on a watch list.
A source told Premium Times that the National Assembly asked that she be placed on watch list.
"She was told that the leadership of the National Assembly requested that she be considered a flight risk and placed on a watch list.
"We are wondering why they treated her that way, given there is no court order restricting her movement and she has never missed any of her court appearances," the source said.
It was gathered that after nearly an hour, with the Kogi senator making frantic calls, her passport was eventually stamped and she was cleared to board the flight.
There has been a running battle between the Senator and the National Assembly after her seat was reallocated.
She rejected the new position and accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, an allegation he denied.
On Tuesday, she made an attempt to return to the Senate during plenary but was stopped by security operatives.
Natasha said she was relying on a court order but the Senate leadership said there no such order from the court.
