Former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has charged Nigerians to mobilize for the removal of the President Bola Tinubu government through the ballot in 2027.
Amaechi said this in Port Harcourt on Wednesday when he was welcomed by thousands of supporters who thronged out at the International Airport.
According to him, Nigerians were facing acute hunger but the President said “he does not care.”
He said he was tired of the current administration and the level of hunger which has hit both the rich and the poor.
“If you are not tired of President Tinubu, I’m tired of President Tinubu. If you’re not hungry, I’m hungry.
“If the rich men are spending N4 million a month on electricity, only God knows how you are surviving. And the President says he doesn’t care.
“The President says he is not here to make you happy but ADC is here to make you happy,” he stated.
Amaechi, a former minister rallied Rivers people to register with the African Democratic Congress, ADC, assuring them that it was a viable alternative.
Amaechi also said Rivers State was known for manufacturing election results, and not popular votes.
“Every Rivers man who thinks good of the state and country should move to register with the new party and ensure that we remove the current government and stop the hunger that everybody is suffering from.
“Rivers State is notorious for writing (election) results. When they write result, they claim they have won. I will not work with you if you work with those result-snatchers to announce result,” he stated.
On the fears being nursed in several quarters that the choice of a presidential candidate could implode the ADC, Amaechi expressed optimism that anyone who emerged would receive total support.
He said they already had agreement to have a credible process.
“The moment anybody emerges from the primary, all of us will support; that’s the agreement.
“We insist on a free and fair, transparent primary,” Amaechi said.
NATIONAL POST reports that apart from Amaechi, Mr Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and a former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have all indicated interest in clinching the ADC ticket.
