Some Civil servants in Enugu state on Thursday appealed to the office of the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission to intervene and stop a retired civil servant from coming to work.
The civil servants complained that a retired Director in the Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports, (name withheld ) has been blocking serving workers and interfering with their schedule of duty simply because of his former high office, experience and influence.
They alleged that the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jnr and other government officials kept a blind eye to the abnormality.
The workers accused the retired Director of remaining in office long after his official retirement.
The retired Director, according to complaints by the civil servants, who pleaded anonymity for fear of punishment for speaking to the press, still comes to office, writes to seek approvals from the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the Ministry and visits Government House in search of approval for such memos.
The workers further alleged that the retired Director was still in charge of rent collection at offices and shops at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and Sports Council premises.
"We call on the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission to investigate this and if in doubt, they should ask Director of Finance and Accounts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
"Investigate the matter, as they are destroying the work of our hardworking Commissioner.
"Investigate small shops payment at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium; office rentage to him at Sports Council Office and why he is parading as officer of Ministry of Youth and Sports, writing official letters, seek money for the Ministry when he has retired," they appealed.
The workers alleged that the meddlesomeness of the retired Director is affecting the work and progression of serving workers at the Sports Ministry and that several complaints to higher authorities yielded no results leading to suspicion that the retired Director was using talisman on them.
