Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed certainty that he will clinch the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Both Atiku and Mr Peter Obi, as well as Rotimi Amaechi have all indicated interest in the ADC ticket.
The party, which is still undergoing restructuring, is silent on the zoning of its presidential ticket.
Atiku has now affirmed his interest in the position.
He made the remarks while briefly addressing newsmen as captured in a viral post shared on his X account.
The 2023 PDP presidential candidate who had attempted at the presidency since 1993, when pressed about his intentions in the next election, and a timeline for declaring his candidacy, he would let the public know very soon.
According to the 77-year-old politician, when asked what he would do if he didn’t clinch the party’s presidential ticket, “Have I ever failed to get the ticket? I’m confident. We will let you know. We will give you a formal announcement,” he said.
While addressing the growing calls for younger candidates to take centre stage, Atiku defended his place in the race, saying, “Let the youths contest now. It’s democracy.”
