Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has said that any politician pledging to spend a single term in office is deceiving the members of the public.
He said such a person needs to be sent for a psychiatric examination and must not be taken seriously.
The governor said this during a campaign rally of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Apart from some guber candidates in the state, Mr Peter Obi has also pledged to do one term if elected Nigeria president in 2027.
It is part of the deal Obi submitted to the opposition coalition as he seeks to get the ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
According to Soludo, “Any politician who comes to say he will do one term must be sent to a psychiatric home, because when the constitution allows you to stay up to 8 years, you come and tell us, ‘I’m going to spend one term’.
“Tell us where it has ever happened, who? It is a promise made to a woman.
“You are taking everybody else to be a fool.”
