A woman has allegedly stabbed her lover to death in Okitipupa following a heated argument over suspected infidelity.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.

According to him, 24-year-old Augustina Mowarin allegedly stabbed her partner, Michael Ikuedowoni, after a heated argument over accusations of infidelity.

Lawal explained that the couple, who had lived together for years, had a history of frequent quarrels over issues of trust.

“During the altercation, she allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the leg.

“He was rushed to a private hospital but unfortunately died from the injury,” he said.

Police officers moved in quickly to prevent a mob attack on the suspect.

She was taken first to Irele Police Division for her safety before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Akure.

According to the commissioner, the case was reported about two weeks after the incident occurred, which initially slowed police response.
