2027: Why Jonathan should stay away - Shehu Sani

By

Former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has advised former president Goodluck Jonathan not to be lured into joining the presidential race in 2027.

There have been loud calls on Jonathan to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Days back, a report claimed that the president has accepted to join the race.

Jonathan has neither accepted nor denied the claims.

Speaking as a guest on 'Sunday Politics', a programme on Channels Television, Sani urged Jonathan to stay from the contest.

He said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the party Jonathan used to win the election in 2011, was no longer united.

Sani advised the ex-president to jettison the idea of running for presidency come 2027.

The former federal lawmaker pointed out that Jonathan's name always comes out whenever there is an election, stressing that it is his volition to contest.

"But I advise him not to do that. The reason is very simple: the PDP he used to know is not the PDP now.

“The PDP in the South-West is endorsing the president. Some members of the party are in the coalition. So, it is the party he used to know so he shouldn’t waste his time," he said.
