Tears as touts chase family of three to death

By

Road users wept profusely on Wednesday after a family of three were chased to death by touts at the Mabushi Bridge in Abuja.

The victims included a man, his wife, and their son.

NATIONAL POST reports that the family had just purchased a refrigerator and were heading home when the touts, popularly known as ‘Agberos’ started giving them a chase.

An eyewitness told Leadership that the family was driving in a Toyota Highlander when the incident occurred.

The touts reportedly forced their way into the vehicle and began dragging the steering wheel with the driver.

“In the process of struggling for control, the car rammed into the pillar under the bridge before plunging into the drainage,” one eyewitness said.

The occupants all died on the spot, attracting an outrage from passersby.

Angered by the development, a mob descended on the touts and killed one of them instantly.

The quick intervention of the police Mabushi Division saved the other two touts, though with critical injuries.

The bodies of the victims have been deposited in a morgue, the source further hinted.

As of the time of filing this report, the police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
