The National Association of Resident Doctors, on Thursday, declared a nationwide strike.

NATIONAL POST reports that the 5-day warning strike would commence on Friday, 12th September 2025.

The doctors say this is their last effort to press home their demands.

In a statement on Thursday by the General Secretary, Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Agbor Affiong, he confirmed the action.

The decision of the strike was reached after the NARD online National Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, which extended to the early hours of Thursday, 11th 2025.

"Arising from the NARD E-NEC meeting held on Wednesday, the 10th of September, 2025, which extended into the early hours of Thursday, the 11th of September, 2025, the NEC members unanimously resolved to embark on a five-day warning strike.

"The strike will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 12th September 2025, and will end on Tuesday, 16th September 2025.

"All centres are hereby directed to duly inform their hospital managements and continue to press home our collective demands." the statement reads.

The doctors are protesting poor working conditions, shortage of power, downgrading of certificates, poor remuneration and other reasons.

This comes same time FCT ARD had earlier declared a seven-day warning strike.
